Why isn't my passcode, secret link, or newsletter key working?

You tested out your key, and it worked great. But now it stopped asking for verification.

The easiest way to move forward is by opening a private browsing session (sometimes called "incognito mode"; see How to use a private browsing session), and then proceeding to test Locksmith in your online storefront.

For background, Locksmith remembers your previous access using the same mechanism Shopify uses to remember you. Because of this, one of these two things (or both!) is probably happening: 

Locksmith is remembering your browser.

When you open the key, Locksmith remembers it as long as your browser application remains running. Try using a private session (see How to use a private browsing session), or, try fully quitting your browser application and then re-opening it. Locksmith should prompt for input again.

Locksmith is remembering your account.

If you were signed into a customer account when you opened the key, Locksmith will remember access on that account, and never ask again when you're signed in. 

This happens by default on those keys, but you can change this setting:

  1. Head into the lock and click on the link to the key condition. Next, scroll down in the pop up and disable the option "Remember for signed in customer". 
  2. Then click off of the pop up, and click Save. :)
