Locking your entire shop, except for a few pages

Normally, a lock requires a key in order to be opened. This is good! But, sometimes you'll need to lock down your entire shop while opening up access to just a particular page (or product, or collection, etc) - and there's no key for that.

However, there is a key called "Permit always".

This means that, if you've already got a shop-wide lock in place, you can add an additional lock for a specific page (or other content), then add that "Permit always" key to that more specific lock. This key will force open its own lock and any other locks that might be in play - including the shop-wide lock, in this example.

To set this up, use these steps:

  1. Log in at uselocksmith.com.
  2. If you haven't already, click the link under the search box for locking your entire shop, then configure keys as appropriate.
  3. Use the search box to create a lock for the page (or other content) that you want to always be accessible, regardless of any other locks present. Choose the correct item, and click Save.
  4. On the next screen create a key, selecting "(always permit)" from the dropdown menu. It's near the bottom of the list.
  5. Click Save.

That's it! :) This new key will force open all locks for the particular page you've applied it to.
